The cistercian Monastery of State Florida, or Ystrad Filur was established in 1164 by monks from Whitland on land provided by Robert Fitzstephen, the Norman Land of Pennard. It was built on the bank of Adon Fflur, a tributary of the Teifi.
A local nature reserve, Cors Caron is situated on a stretch of land between Ponrhydfednigaid and Tregaron. It is not only the place to see the famous Red Kite but it is home to a number of rare species of wildlife known only to this part of the world.
